The Short Answer
Sclerotherapy treats spider veins and small varicose veins by injecting a solution that irritates the vessel wall so the vein closes and is gradually absorbed by your body. It remains the gold standard for leg veins, and most areas need one to three sessions.

Myth
“Spider veins are only a cosmetic issue.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
Often they are, but not always. Aching, heaviness, itching or swelling can signal underlying venous insufficiency, which needs evaluation before cosmetic treatment. We ask about symptoms first and refer when the picture warrants it.
Myth
“Lasers are better than injections for leg veins.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
For most leg spider veins, injection sclerotherapy clears more reliably than surface lasers. Lasers have their place for tiny facial vessels, but on legs the solution reaching the vessel from inside is what closes it.
Myth
“Treated veins always come back.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
The treated vein is gone. What returns is new veins, because the underlying tendency, whether genetic, hormonal or occupational, has not changed. Maintenance sessions every few years are typical.
