The Short Answer
Dermal fillers are gels, most often hyaluronic acid, placed under the skin to restore volume that has deflated with age. Cheeks, temples, the mid-face, lips, chin, and jawline are the usual targets. Results are visible immediately, last nine to eighteen months, and hyaluronic fillers can be dissolved if you change your mind.

Yes, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic-acid-based gels that restore lost volume, smooth static wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Unlike Botox, which relaxes muscles, fillers add structure, lifting cheeks, defining lips, softening nasolabial folds, and restoring a youthful facial shape.
Results look natural and add balance to your features, never overfilled or artificial.

Unlike collagen stimulators, hyaluronic filler is doing its job the moment it is placed. You see the new contour before you leave.
Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved, which makes it the right place to start if you are cautious about how far you want to go.
Myth
“Filler will make me look puffy or fake.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
Puffy is what happens when filler is chased area by area instead of planned for the whole face. We assess proportion first and often place less than clients expect, in the structural areas that actually hold the face up, which reads as rested rather than filled.
Myth
“Filler stretches your skin permanently.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
Conservative, appropriately placed volume does not stretch skin. What people are seeing in bad results is over-filling, repeated too often. Our approach of treating structure and waiting two weeks between judgments exists specifically to avoid that.
Myth
“All fillers are basically the same.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
They are engineered very differently. Thin, flexible gels belong in lips and tear troughs; firm, cohesive gels belong in cheeks and jawline. Radiesse and Sculptra are not fillers at all but collagen stimulators. Matching product to job is most of the skill.
Myth
“It is dangerous, I have seen the horror stories.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
The serious complications are almost always about anatomy and injector experience, not the product. We use cannulas where they are safer, aspirate where indicated, and keep hyaluronidase on hand. Choosing an injector who does this daily is the single biggest safety factor.
The Filler Standard
“We plan the whole face before touching a syringe, and we would rather place too little than too much.”
Approach
Structure first, then refinement
Products
Matched to the area, never one-size-fits-all
Follow-Up
Complimentary at two weeks
Safety
Cannula technique, hyaluronidase on hand
Because artistry matters as much as safety. At Austin Med Spa, our injectors assess your unique facial anatomy to place filler precisely, restoring volume and balance without looking overdone.
We pride ourselves on results that make people say "you look amazing", not "did you get filler?"
We'll discuss your goals, assess your facial movement, and create a treatment plan tailored to you.
Takes about 30 to 45 minutes depending on treatment areas. A topical numbing cream keeps you comfortable throughout.
Results are visible immediately, with final settling over about two weeks. Most fillers last 6 to 18 months depending on the product and area.

Right after
Expect swelling, and possibly a bruise at an entry point. The area may look slightly over-full, which is swelling and not the result. Ice gently, stay upright, skip the gym.
Days 1 to 3
Peak swelling, usually the second morning. Lips swell the most and look dramatically fuller than they will be. Small firm areas are normal.
Days 4 to 7
Swelling drops noticeably, bruising fades to yellow and covers easily. The shape starts to look like the result.
Day 14
Fully settled and the correct time to judge and photograph. Your follow-up is scheduled here; if anything is uneven or under-filled, we adjust.
Months 9 to 18
Filler is absorbed gradually, so there is no sudden drop-off. Topping up before it is entirely gone maintains the structure and usually requires less product.
Filler restores volume, Botox stops the movement that creases the skin. Almost every full-face plan uses both.
