The Short Answer
Laser hair removal targets the pigment in the hair follicle with a wavelength that damages the follicle without harming surrounding skin. Because hair grows in cycles and only actively growing hairs respond, a course of six to eight sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart is what produces lasting reduction.
Treats
Face, underarms, bikini, legs, back, chest
Session Time
5 minutes to an hour by area
Downtime
None; redness for a few hours
Course
6 to 8 sessions, 4 to 8 weeks apart
Results
Permanent reduction, not total removal
Before
Shave, do not wax or pluck
Our laser emits a concentrated beam of light that targets the pigment in hair follicles, disabling their ability to regrow while leaving surrounding skin undisturbed. Most clients need a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart to treat hair in all growth phases.
The result is smoother skin with dramatically less hair regrowth over time, no more razor burn, ingrown hairs, or waxing appointments.

Myth
“Laser hair removal is permanent and total.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
The correct term is permanent reduction. A completed course typically removes the large majority of hair in the area, and what returns is finer and sparser. Hormonal areas such as the chin and jawline often need an occasional maintenance session, which is normal rather than a failure.
Myth
“It does not work on dark skin.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
It does, with the right wavelength and settings. The older technology that gave this myth its start was genuinely unsafe on deeper skin tones. We assess your skin type and select parameters accordingly, and we will decline to treat rather than risk a burn or pigment change.
Myth
“It is unbearably painful.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
Most clients describe a warm snap, like a rubber band. Cooling runs throughout, underarms take under five minutes, and the upper lip is a matter of seconds. It is considerably more comfortable than waxing, and there is no regrowth phase to sit through.
Myth
“You should wax right before your session.”
Hover for the fact
Fact
The opposite. Waxing or plucking removes the follicle target the laser needs, so it makes the session useless. Shave the day before, leave the root in place, and do not wax for the entire course.

Questions
{{ f.a }}
Right after
Mild redness and small bumps around the follicles for a few hours, similar to light razor burn. Aloe or a cool compress helps. Skip the gym, sauna, and hot showers for a day.
Days 3 to 10
Treated hairs appear to grow, then shed. This is not regrowth, it is the follicle expelling the damaged hair. Exfoliating gently speeds it along.
Weeks 2 to 4
The area is noticeably smoother and shaving becomes far less frequent. This first taste of results is where most clients decide the course was worth it.
Weeks 4 to 8
Time for the next session, timed to catch the next group of follicles entering their growth phase. Spacing matters more than intensity, which is why we hold you to the schedule.
After the course
Expect a large, lasting reduction, with anything that returns finer and lighter. Hormonal areas may want one maintenance session a year.
If underarm sweat is the real concern alongside hair, miraDry addresses sweat and odor permanently in one or two visits.
